ECU is proud to support the young, local Estonian community with scholarship opportunities.

Bursary for Student Study / Exchange in Estonia

To celebrate our 65th Anniversary, we are happy to announce our new bursary opportunity!

To strengthen ties to Estonia, we are introducing a new bursary program for our young members who are looking for a study / exchange opportunity in Estonia.

This bursary opportunity is open year-round and includes travel for both academic and applied education and training. As part of the bursary application, we want to know about your upcoming experience and how you think the trip will help our local community in Ontario or Canada.

By helping our local members travel to Estonia, we hope to strengthen our local Estonian culture and give young people the opportunity to learn and experience Estonia for themselves.

To apply, please download the application form below and submit it to ECU for review.

ECU Ekbaum Scholarship

Once a year, we open up our ECU Ekbaum Scholarship to students attending post-secondary school who are active in the Estonian community. The scholarship recipients are chosen by a four-person panel from the Board of Directors and staff of the Estonian Credit Union. In awarding scholarships, the panel places greater emphasis on the applicants' involvement in the Estonian community and the submitted written discussion. The ECU Ekbaum Scholarship typically begins to accept applications in the first few months of every year, and the scholarships are handed out at our Annual General Meeting.

Over the years, ECU has supported 189 post-secondary students with scholarships, distributing over $168 thousand dollars. Giving back and supporting our community is one of the core values at ECU. We are happy to continue our scholarship program and help our local youth prosper and grow.

Our 2019 ECU Ekbaum Scholarship is now closed! Thank you to everyone who applied.
