Get a Pre-Approval

Everyone's first step should be to apply for a pre-approval, or to book an appointment with our lending department to discuss your mortgage needs and to activate the pre-approval process.

This is an important step for any buyer, whether it's your first home or you're looking to upgrade.

Do Your Homework

Do your homework about the neighbourhoods you are considering moving to. Once you have your pre-approval in place, interview a few realtors to discuss their buying strategies, their knowledge about the current market and also their knowledge about the different neighbourhoods you've been considering.

Once you've found the realtor you want to work with, make sure they know your wants and needs. Be specific and take your time when looking for a home - don't rush into buying something that you're not 100% sure of.

Consult a Few Lawyers

The third thing you should do is to consult a few lawyers to see what their fees would be if they respresented you with the purchase. A Real Estate Insured Solicitor will be required and you want to double check what you'll be paying; ask them to quote their fee for a purchase and a mortgage.

We are Here for You

At ECU, we take the time to help our members understand the home-buying process. We make sure you understand the costs associated with buying a home, and that you are prepared for your purchase.

We are committed to finding the right solution for each member, and taking the time to understand your situation and needs.
